The Sand Ceremony . . .

Like the Unity Candle Ceremony, the beautiful and very moving Sand Ceremony also symbolizes the merging of two lives into one. Two vessels of different colored sand are poured by the bride and groom into a center vessel intermingling the sand together representing that the two shall become one. The words spoken by the Captain are indeed very beautiful and touching. Unlike the Unity Candle Ceremony, there is no need to worry or be concerned with inclement weather or the wind playing havoc as it does with a candle lighting ceremony. The Sand Ceremony really fills the bill when a wedding ceremony is planned in open spaces, particularly on yachts where the ceremony takes place on an open top deck. This unique symbolic act can be beautifully performed and incorporated into your marriage ceremony and the beautiful center vessel of colored sand is yours to keep as a reminder of the vows you took and the very beautiful words spoken during The Sand Ceremony.
